Day 1 - After an early morning breakfast, we will transfer by car to Amazônia National Park, Itaituba – a six hour drive. Amazon National Park was created in February 1974, shortly after the construction of the Transamazon Highway BR-230. It is located in western Para state, on the banks of the Tapajós River, and is part of the mosaic of Conservation Units. The park is responsible for the protection of numerous Tapajós and Amazon River contributor springs. Target birds on the way to the lodge will be, White and Gray-lined Hawk, Fork-tailed Palm-Swift, Chestnut-fronted Macaw, Black-fronted Nunbird, Red-breasted Meadowlark, among many others. On arrival, there will be a brief introduction to the lodge before you are taken to your room. Dinner and checklist.

Day 2 and 8 - Please note, there is no detailed daily itinerary, as birding activities will vary depending on the weather and trails conditions.

On the next days we explore several interesting trails located inside the Park. Depending of the weather conditions, we will take a boat ride to the Tapajós River looking for birds, such as, Sunbittern, Red-throated Piping-Guan, Ladder-tailed Nightjar, Sand-colored Nighthawk, American Pygmy and Green-and-rufous Kingfisher, Amazônian Streaked-Antwren, Glossy Antshrike, Hoatzin, Long-billed Woodcreeper, White-banded Swallow and many others.

Opportunities are good for night birding and we will look for Austral Screech-Owl, Crested and Black-banded Owl, Rufous and Long-tailed Potoo, Short-tailed Nighthawk, Ocellated Poorwill and Blackish Nightjar.

Day 9 - This will be our last day, but we should have time to try to find any birds around the lodge that we have not seen during the trip. Around 8:00am we will leave for Santarem airport where our tour ends.

Price Includes: Fluent English speaking birding guide, all meals (including water and soft drinks), accommodation (Hotels/Lodges), ground transportation, entrance fees at National and State Parks.
